A band with a difference! This 13 piece saxaphone band hail from the Canton of Thun in Switzerland. Some of you will know the pretty lake of that name – Interlaken, the gateway to the Bernese Oberland at one end, and the very pretty town of Spiez at the other – the whole lake overlooked by the summits of the Niederhorn and Niesen.
Lisa Panther in concert at Spiez earlier this year.
Lisa’s Panther tell me they are doing a three day tour in London with eight of their members. I spotted them on their first day by Waterstones’ Trafalgar Square.
This is Lisa’s Panther’s first visit as a band to the UK. They have had concerts in Barcelona (2009 and 2016) Copenhagen (2011) and Andorra (2016)
Lisa’s Panther says “We want to play good music in a meaningful way. That is what we do. We enjoy transforming the qualities of saxaphone music into various moods enhanced by our orchestration of the different saxaphones.”
The band was set up in 2005 by Daniel Chmelik (centre) who is also the musical director.
